Today we go all the way to Singapore to talk to Rysyu. A wonderful female photo artist who has done some incredible work. She does both SFW and NSFW art and does take commissions. We talk about her interest in her artistic hobby as well as her thoughts on spicy art. Please note English isn't her native language so be kind and have empathy if you comment. Enjoy! First can you tell us a little about yourself, where you grew up and what attracted or inspired you to get into this art form?
Hi,I'm rysyu,I'm from singapore,everyone guess I'm a boy or a girl, yes I'm a girl lol,this should be a game that inspired me to do 3d art.At first I saw the fanart pictures shared by others then I was very envious,Because I like that games very much,I made up my mind to learn software.
How did you learn this form of digital art?
If you like something,you will search everywhere how to use it,I learn on youtube,You can't find anyone to teach you these at the beginning.
What drew you to Cyberpunk 2077 or/and the cyberpunk genre as a whole?
I actually don’t know about cyberpunk 2077 and I haven’t watched the trailer. To be honest, cyberpunk 2077 was released because everyone was playing, so I decided to buy the game and try it out.I didn't expect that I fell in love with this type.
Do you have a favorite cyberpunk setting aside from 2077? If so why do you like it so much?
No, I don't play many games.
What keeps driving you to keep making 2077 content?
The npc I like, and the nexus mod is updated every day, it's not boring
What about the 2077 characters specifically got your interest? All time favorite NPC in 2077 and why?
Judy Alvarez, apparently all my VPs or fanart is her,I really like her.
What tools do you use to make your art? How long does it take to go from idea to posting a pic?
At the beginning, I started to learn sfm, xps and then blender. Later, I felt that blender’s filters are great. The idea is very simple, but what you make is often different from what you think, and the result has to be modified. In addition, I need to work, Update 1 or 2 pictures a week as much as possible.
How long have you been doing this art form?
From 2018 to present
What are your thoughts about AI art, cyberpunk or otherwise? Is it really 'art' in your view or just several 'stolen' images mushed together? What is your take?
I don't like Ai, they are thieves
What attracted you to doing the spicy side of digital art?
Want to see different picture of their favorite character, of course anyone likes it :x
I've seen a lot of memes from artists that imply if you do vanilla art you will hardly get any notice, but if you do spicy art you'll get tons of attention. Do you feel those memes are accurate for better or worse? What are your thoughts on that?
Some people like to watch spicy ones and some people just like to watch sweet moments. Everyone has different needs. I do spicy ones occasionally(Maybe I am still practicing my skills)but I prefer sweet moments.
I have noticed on the Twitter and art sites a large amount of "futa" (female characters given male sex organs) or artists who do 'standard'
versions and 'futa' versions of their female characters. I really didn't realize that was a thing, or how big it was until I dug into it. What's your thoughts on that whole subject matter and why do you think it has the following it does?
I never make spicy art of futa. It gives me the feeling that boys can't feel girls, and boys can't feel girls. Actually, I don't know this either.
Do you think these are skills you'd like to make a career of on some level or you prefer it as a hobby?
I feel like now these two can be together at the same time.
For those artists that don't want to get on the spicy side of things what advice do you have?
No problem, just follow what you like
