This week we talk to Falero3D, a NSFW 2077 3D render artist. We talk about his background, his process to make his art and his interest in the spicy side of things.
NOTE his images below are, obviously, NSFW.
First can you tell us a little about yourself, where you grew up and what attracted or inspired you to get into this art form?
Hi, my alias is Falero. I am a 3D render artist from France, currently living in Paris. From a young age, I have been creating digital artworks that in some way were related to my favorite music artists, films and anime. More recently, I have really been enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 and the Witcher 3. These games in turn inspired me to get into this form of 3D art.
How did you learn this form of digital art?
Earlier this year I started to look up Blender tutorials on YouTube until I eventually came across the donut tutorial series. This eventually taught me the ins and outs if the software and I kind of went from there.
What drew you to Cyberpunk 2077 or/and the cyberpunk genre as a whole?
The Witcher 3 is actually my favorite game of all time. When CDPR announced Cyberpunk 2077, I was really excited for it because the game is set in a completely different reality. In addition to the game, the cyberpunk genre in general interests me as Blade Runner 2049 is one of my favorite movies. The thing I particularly like about this genre is that it is dark, yet colorful and expressive.
Do you have a favorite cyberpunk setting aside from 2077? If so why do you like it so much?
I do, I really like the medieval/dark fantasy realities. For example, I think the settings in the manga Berserk, the Souls games, and the Elder Scrolls are amazing. Even though these are little more on the dark fantasy side, I also enjoy the aesthetics and art styles in games like World of Warcraft and Dragon Age.
What message, to you, does the cyberpunk genre imply or relay as a viewer, fan?
For me, the cyberpunk genre illustrates that cyber dystopia is a pretty realistic version of the future at the rate technology is evolving today. Other cyberpunk media have also been used as a way to relay critique on the modern world to an audience, which I think is cool.
What photo/GFX tools that are not in 2077 would you like to see in the sequel Project Orion?
I would love to see more in-depth NPC and environment posing options. Other than that, I think it’s already really good as is.
What keeps driving you to keep making 2077 content?
I really love the environments and characters made available by the amazing 2077 model and map community.
What about the 2077 characters specifically got your interest? All time favorite NPC in 2077 and why?
I am specifically interested in these characters because most of them have good designs and (back)stories. My favorite character is definitely Silverhand. I found his character annoying at first, but he really grew on me. And I really am a fan of Keanu Reeves and his movies (The Matrix, Constantine, John Wick) so it was fun to experience him in the game.
What tools do you use to make your art? How long does it take to go from idea to posting a pic?
I use Blender and Lightroom to make my renders. It takes about two to three days to execute the ideas and make them ready for posting.
How long have you been doing this art form?
I officially started learning Blender in January earlier this year.
What are your thoughts about AI art, cyberpunk or otherwise? Is it really 'art' in your view or just several 'stolen' images mushed together? What is your take?
I think the concept of AI and the technology behind it is incredible. That being said, I do not think that there is any artistry behind its art. This goes for Cyberpunk generated AI art as well as other AI art.
What attracted you to doing the spicy side of digital art?
Good question ;) I think the characters in the CDPR games are well designed and I thought it would be fun to incorporate them in my own cinematic vision.
I've seen a lot of memes from artists that imply if you do vanilla art you will hardly get any notice, but if you do spicy art you'll get tons of attention. Do you feel those memes are accurate for better or worse? What are your thoughts on that?
I have not been in the community for that long to be honest. I personally have not experienced this yet. However, I can imagine that there is a larger demand for nude/hardcore art (I also think it has always kind of been like this).
Fav couple (not necessarily official couple) you have done or would like to do spicy art for and why?
As an official couple I would say Judy and V, because it is lore accurate and I do appreciate the little details for that extra bit of immersion. Another character in general I would like to work with is Yennefer from the Witcher 3.
I have noticed on the Twitter and art sites a large amount of "futa"(female characters given male sex organs) or artists who do 'standard'
versions and ' futa' versions of their female characters. I really didn't realize that was a thing, or how big it was until I dug into it. What's your thoughts on that whole subject matter and why do you think it has the following it does?
I have noticed this as well. I think it is a fantasy that can be well reproduced in a digital art form, rather than in real life. I think it has such a large audience because it’s more fun to see two of your favorite female characters on screen than to just have one together with a generic male character.
Do you think these are skills you'd like to make a career of on some level or you prefer it as a hobby?
It’s something I have really quickly learned to love and experiment with. My goal is to eventually become a financially independent artist through creating the art I love. However, if the skills I learn through creating my art could eventually lead to a potential job opportunity I would love to make it my career.
Fav 3 mods you use in the game and why do they make this list?
I actually usually play games like without any mods, because I prefer to initially play the game the way the developers intended. However, I do enjoy small quality of life, shader and performance optimization mods.
And my most controversial question... Which of the following labels would you assign to whom (one each)? ;)
Marry, BFF, FWB(friend with benefits), Casual Friend, Indifferent, Hate, Kill
Evelyn: Indifferent
Goro: Casual friend
Johnny: BFF :p
Judy: FWB
Kerry: Kill
Panam: Marry
River: Hate
And finally what are the socials people can find you, and do you do commissions? Any final words to the readers? Thank you for your time!
My socials
are Twitter and DeviantArt (both @Falero3D).
At this moment in time, I am not taking commissions, but I do plan to do so in the near future! Thank you for this opportunity, I really think this platform is a fun initiative to connect with fellow Cyberpunk 2077 lovers and I would encourage everyone to pursue their interests!
